Climbing at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC)
The new Student Recreation and Wellness Center features two dedicated climbing areas: The Spartan Summit and the Bouldering Wall. Both climbing spaces are included with SRWC membership and available at no additional cost.
Climbing is an inherently challenging and potentially hazardous activity. All participants must follow the posted rules and safety guidelines in each climbing area at all times.

The Spartan Summit
Rules and Regulations
The Spartan Summit is a 47-foot-tall roped climbing wall designed for climbers of all skill levels. Routes range in difficulty from 5.5 to 5.12, providing options for beginners as well as experienced climbers.
Features include:
- Top rope and lead climbing
- Three auto-belay systems
- Routes for a wide range of climbing abilities
All required rental equipment is provided free of charge. Staff members will provide a safety orientation for new participants and are available to assist with top rope belaying.
The Bouldering Wall
Rules and Regulations
The Bouldering Wall is a 15-foot-tall climbing area located in the center of the facility. Bouldering focuses on shorter climbing routes that are completed without the use of ropes or harnesses.
Key information:
- Open during all SRWC operating hours
- Climbing shoes are required
- Rental shoes are available at no additional cost
Shoes can be checked out at the main Equipment Checkout window before climbing.
