Managing your Membership

Access to the Membership Portal

There is NO entry allowed into our facilities without a physical photo ID.  

We do not allow guests; you must be a Michigan State University student, faculty, staff, alum, or retiree to be eligible to purchase a membership.

MSU Students

As the final step of activating your membership, please log in with your MSU NetID in our membership portal to read and sign the acknowledgement of risk form to gain access to all the recreation facilities and programs at MSU. All students* pay the recreation fee along with their tuition to help fund enhancements to Rec Sports facilities and programs. Your membership is tied directly to your student ID, which you will scan when entering the facility. 

The Acknowledgement of Risk form must be signed before using Rec Sports facilities.

*Note for Graduate Teaching Assistants: As part of your collective bargaining agreement, you are exempt from paying the mandatory fee on your tuition bill. You are still able to purchase a membership if you would like to utilize RSFS facilities. Rates are listed below. 

Membership Rates for Graduate Teaching Assistants and Other Non-Fee-Paying Students  

  • Daily: $15
  • Weekly: $30
  • Monthly: $60
  • One Semester: $170
  • Annual (fall; spring; summer): $340
  • Summer semester: $80 

MSU Faculty, Staff and Retirees

Faculty, staff and retirees are welcome to purchase a membership as well. Your membership will be activated on your MSU ID after purchase.

  • Daily: $15
  • Weekly: $35
  • Monthly: $70
  • One semester: $200
  • Annual (fall; spring; summer): $400, only available for purchase in fall semester
  • Summer semester: $90 

Other MSU Affiliates

FPID ID holders also associated with Michigan State University are also eligible to purchase memberships. Rates are listed below.

  • Daily: $15
  • Weekly: $35
  • Monthly: $70
  • One semester: $200     
  • Annual (fall; spring; summer): $400, only available for purchase in fall semester
  • Summer semester: $90 

MSU Alumni 

You must be a graduate of Michigan State University to qualify as an alum. 

Memberships are available for purchase for week, month, and semester. After purchase, you can pick up an Alumni ID card from the Front Desk of the SRWC.

  • Weekly: $40
  • Monthly: $80
  • One Semester: $225  
  • Annual (fall; spring; summer): $475, only available for purchase in fall semester
  • Summer semester: $110 

Family 

Recreational Sports facilities offer designated times for **family recreation and/or family swim. During these times students or faculty/staff who have dependent children (age 17 and below) are encouraged to explore and recreate.

**Dependent children must be accompanied by the respective MSU ID holder at all times inside the facility.

Family Recreation is not offered for the extended family or friends of any MSU ID holder.

Community Members

Recreational Sports facilities do not offer access to general community members, except for those individuals that purchase memberships to the MSU Sailing Center. MSU Sailing Memberships are NOT valid at any on-campus facility.
