The Recreational Sports and Fitness Services Department is a participation oriented department.  Our goal is to serve the recreational needs of the university community.  Recreational activity is designed to be fun and enjoyable for the participant.  We must foster the exercise enjoyment of our participants.  Our purpose is to promote physical/movement activity as a lifestyle choice that is beneficial to the university community.  We strive to encourage healthy exercise habits while modifying and changing unhealthy behaviors.  The availability of daily participation opportunities makes it possible for individuals and groups to begin, to continue, and to maintain their desired level of fitness while exercising with a diverse population.  The concept of a healthy campus is compatible with academic success.

The scope of our program includes land and water based exercise/fitness/movement activities including but not limited to: group exercise classes, lap swimming or the fitness centers.  All activities offered as part of the exercise/fitness/movement program provide educational opportunities for fitness education through instructor/personal trainer led classes or self-directed, drop-in workouts. 

The Fitness Services programs provide safe and convenient environment where one can begin, maintain, and improve their chosen level of physical fitness.  We focus on providing activities that emphasize but are not limited to, aerobic conditioning, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.  Participants of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.
